Our parents want frequent updates on how their children are doing. The following expectations will help with this:
Beginning of the Year:
Every teacher will class the students on their class roster to let them know they are in their class instead of posting signs. Please place date that you talk to parent on the class roster we give you and turn it into nancy when you are done calling.
The first week of school every student will be called with a positive phone call. Place on sunshine log in google drive.

Daily folder that give updates on:
o Homework o A place for notes/messages from/to the teacher AND from/to the parent o Student behavior/participation in class. o Academic praises or concerns o Or needed information
Teachers are expected to communicate regularly with parents. Such communication should be recorded for documentation purposes.
Appropriate forms of communication include parent conferences, phone calls, notes, home visits, dojo, and email (although teachers should not discuss confidential information within email messages.) If one means of communication is not yielding positive results, alter your method of contacting parents.

Monthly: SUNSHINE LOGS Every month each teacher will email, call or talk to every student'sā parents to discuss (Specials call 22 students please):
Grades, behavior or any other concern.
Every communication should be a sandwich

Documentation of each discussion will be turned into Google drive on first day of the new month if it is a school day by 4:00 p.m.

This will ensure every parent in your class will get at least one update every month about their child.

RTI students should receive more frequent updates
Students with Behavior concerns should receive more frequent updates.
Parents whose children never get in trouble love to hear about the positive.
The district is providing Thursday November 17th from 4:00p.m. ā 8:00 p.m. and Friday November 17th from 7:30 a.m. ā 12:00 p.m. for conferences. as the time gets closer we will discuss what those conferences should look like. Each student who struggles with academic or behavioral issues should have at least three documented parent/teacher conferences per grading period. You should also communicate with campus administration in situations where you need their assistance for such parent conferences.
